Can anobody help me regarding problems encountered on old G3r systems upgraded to S8700? Before upgrade to S8700 vintage 11, we have a G3r system vintage 9. We decided to upgrade our system but needed to reuse the old cabinets. The system carrier was converted into port network. On the same cabinet (1st cabinet) there is a carrier C which is our port network 1. Therefore, we purchased a new carrier (assigned as carrier A) and the previous carrier C became our carrier B.

But PN 1 did not activate due to incompatibility of carrier B (prev carrier C) to the new vintage. Old carrier needs to have an ICC connector C and D located at the back of the carrier. Analysis was provided by AVAYA.

When we replaced the carrier B with a new one, we were able to clear the alarms on the PABX but the lead of the "major" alarm on the Maintenance board is lighted. We do not have any idea what was the major alarm is all about. Analysis by AVAYA it's a hardware conflict.

We need the said port network 1 up and running as soon as possible due to our expansion. AVAYA already spent 2 months trying to resolve the issue.

Anybody who had this kind of experience, please assist me!!

you`re not the first one i see with problems at migration with older MCC cabinets. In my case it resulted in replacing all of the port carriers of the cabinet. I think thats the only way to provide a solution

i dont like the solution with the flatwires between the maintenance boards and the ipsi boards at all. we spent a lot of time trying to fix the problem but besides of replacing everything, nothing helped.

Good luck

Right now, I have an IPSI board on cabinet 1. If AVAYA will not provide me of a strong solution to the matter, we won't give back the service unit IPSI board.
