I have been asked to change a Defiity G3i V6 user's voicemail cover extension from the universal receptionist to another user in the same unit. The location is a prison, so administration won't let me change the "zero-out".
I would like to create a coverage answer group for the users in the unit (Health Clinic) and give a caller the option of leaving a message in voicemail, or transferring to the coverage group where, presumably, a live body will answer the phone.
I had thought to do this with a vector; ie: from voicemail box press *8 xxxx (vdn).
However, I am not sure how to include the coverage ans group in the vector (route-to??).
Thanks!

Using a vector for a coverage answer group

Not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish...

Are you trying to change where a call is routed if someone chooses to "zero out" when they reach a certain voice mailbox? And why use a vector? For measurement purposes?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
Perhaps I am using a shotgun to kill a bug.
The situation:
A call comes in on a DID, a nurse manager's direct line. If she is unavailable, the caller can leave a message or press zero(zero routes the caller to the Main Control Center). Since the caller originally wanted to speak to someone in the clinic, this is does not work.
I cannot change the zero-out option as the prison will not allow it.
I would like the caller to have the option to transfer to a coverage group which includes all of the other clinic phones, with the hopes that the caller will get a live body.
I thought if I used a vector, the call could ultimately cover to voicemail if there is no one available.
If there are other solutions for what I need, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks

OK If the prison doesn't allow you to change the zero out option, which you could STILL ultimately route back to an operator, you can do this:

How about an auto attendant first? The zero out can still be to the operator, press 1 to leave a message or press 2 for further help.

1=call answer to a voice mailbox
2=transfer to the X port station described below
0=attendant

If that's not an option either, you can use the transfer function but there isn't a need for a vector.

Setup an X ported extension with a new coverage path. Your callers will dial *t (if the COR allows it) and this extension.

In the coverage path, point one will be the coverage answer group. Point two can be the voice mail hunt group, or an attendant, or just about anything.

If you send it back to the voice mail, be sure to change the auto attendant routing table on the Intuity so that this X port extension will flow it's calls to the initial voice mailbox, thus providing one mailbox for the nurse to monitor.

Country:
Abbreviated Dial Button on 8410D

You could assign the new phones that you want the calls to cover to into a hunt group. Then make a new coverage path and assign the new hunt group by using the remote coverage in the first spot on the coverage path, then if no one answers, it can still cover to the original phone vmail.

I hope this helps.
