Hi,

I added a CLAN (TN799C) card to my Definity G3si v9. I followed the instructions outlined on the Avaya Made Easy website.

When I do a "status link 1", I get "Restarting" in the Link Status field? Also, when I do a "status ip-board 02a17" I get "Error encountered; can't complete request".

I don't get a link light on the card either, but I do I the network hub (so I believe that I have the wiring done correctly (25-pair to 110 block, using 2,27,3,28 to 1,2,3,6 on an RJ-45 jack).

After I seat the card, it goes through it's POST (power on self test) and right at the end it flashes RED, then GREEN 5 times and then no lights.

Anyone have any idea what I have done incorrectly.

I basically want to use the card to be able to connect to the switch via the network instead of dialup.

Thanks for any help!
Jason

Update: It's a TN799B v1 (not C)

when I got into work this morning, I continued to mess around with this. I noticed that the card is a TN799B v1 and not a TN799C.

DID not ringing

I could be wrong but I didn't think you could use the C-LAN prior to R9.5?

I'm looking at upgrading my V6 switches shortly so I may be able to provide a little more C-LAN insight then....but here's a shortcut on how to administer your switches (no matter what version) over your network instead of dial in...

www.lansat-10.com

This device plugs into your SAT port on the switch and provides administration access through LAN instead of reying soley on Dial In access....

If you need more info, give Nada a call at WMA (www.medak.com). I got mine there and they've been great....

Hi,

First thanks for the link. That is an interesting alternative.

I was using this CLAN card in a v8 switch to connect to the Audix and it worked fine. This is a v9 switch that I am having trouble with.

But I believe the difference is this:

You used the C-LAN in V8 to integrate to your Intuity, which I believe V8 supports. But IP Administration did not get introduced to the Definity until R9.5 if memory serves correct.

It boils down to what you're using the C-LAN for...some releases supported certain things and later releases added upon that....
