| MICA Card I have a potential client who has vaguely mentioned that they want to integrate an external (non-definity) voicemail system to their Avaya platform to provide additional storage space and features at a lower price. I work extensively with Asterisk (open-source) which has some decent voicemail features, but I am at a loss as to how to light up MWI on the desktop. SMDI (Bellcore spec TSR-TSY-000283) seems to be the answer for this, but my searching on Definity has not given me any clear ideas if the Definity platform supports SMDI, or if it's TCP/IP based or via a serial port if so. I can get an SMDI module built into Asterisk fairly quickly with either delivery method, but I won't bother if the switch won't support it. Anyone have any hints in plain English? | ||||||||

Rep Power: 39 ![]() | I have run into the same problem with Cisco VoIP phones MWI light not working with Avaya G3 PBX systems. The only advice I can give you is that we had to play around with the wiring scheme to make the MWI come on. Try different punchdownslike crossing the white/blue on one side and blue/white on the VM side, Two pair instead of one pair, and crossing over pairs. It took awhile, but we finally got it to work.
