double coverage?

Ok, hello there. My first post, hopefully I don't sound like I'm smoking something.

Here's the sitch (name's changed to protect the guilty):

Mary is on vacation. Jane is wanting Mary's calls. Not only her calls, but, her voice mails too. So, that eliminated just simple forwarding.

I could have sworn I've done the following before:

Setup VDN, in vector step have: route to EXT with cov y unconditionally
Setup coverage path with point 1 being that VDN
Change Mary's extension to that new coverage path.

Today, I find that the above is not working. Was I just imagining it working before?

If that doesn't work, anyone have any idea how Jane to get all of Mary's calls (and have Mary's unanswered calls go to Jane's voice mail) without turning Mary's extension into a VDN?

Call forward Mary's phone to Jane's... by way of the local phone company.

By default, the PBX will not follow the coverage path of the forwarded to number.

But of you forward Mary to Jane by dialing out and then back in, it sees the call as a new call just to Jane and allows it to roll over to her voicemail.

The downside to this? Every call to Mary will take up 3 trunk lines... the original call in, the forward back out and the new call back in to Jane.

So... if this is a shot term solution, great.

For longer term, you have to play with vdns/vectors and fake numbers in Audix.... pain in the backside.

Good Luck!!

Here's another spin, forward Mary's extension to Jane. This will handle the live calls. To forward Mary's VM to Jane's VM, add a line to the auto routing table in the Audix (I'm assuming that you have an Intuity Audix system) to route to Jane's VM extension. When Mary comes back, remove the auto routing entry.
