| Is this the first ISDN-PRI T1 you have done? First you set up the DS1 board "add ds1 <board loc>". Line code and framing will be b8zs/esf. Signaling mode is isdn-pri, connect to network. There are only two other fields to change now. You need to find out what protocol version the vendor is sending you. If it is NI1 use protocol a, if it is NI2 use protocol b. Those are the two most common choices. If you are using a 120 CSU on the carrier, set CSU type to integrated. Now you need to set up a signaling group. First type "list signal", if you find any use that for a model. If not type "add signal next". Group type is isdn-pri, primary d-channel will be the 24th channel of your new DS1. Come back here after you have built a trunk group and enter that group number in the field asking for trunk group channel selection. Everything else can be left default. Now type "status signal <group number>", you want the primary D-channel to say "in-service". If it does not, wait a few minutes and status it again. If it still does not say in-service, call the vendor and fix that. Until it is in service nothing will work. Now build a trunk group. Type "add trunk next", the main things to change are group type "isdn", service type "public-ntwrk", and TAC. You are done with the first page. Now page to where you add members and put the remainig 23 channels in. Do not forget the last field where you enter the signal group you added. Go back to that signal group and tell it which trunk group it will be using. Now type "status trunk <new trunk group>". Every channel should now say in service in some form or other. If they say out-of-service or disconnected, go back to the vendor and make sure all is well at their end. Once everything is up, change your PBX synchronization to the new ISDN T1 because that will provide better clocking than whatever you have now. Type "change sync" and enter the DS1 board number in the primary field. There are more changes in ARS and route patterns if you want to use this T1 for calling out but this message is long enough as it is. For incoming calls what I have given you will work 95% of the time. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty |
