If it goes out to the public network, you need to be concerned with the protocol on the "add ds1 <board number>" page. If it is a direct connect you can leave it at the default protocol which is NI1. Also, if it goes to the public network I would make it an ISDN T1 because that will give you a better connection. If it is a direct connection you will need to roll the send and receive pairs and if the R6 Definity gives you a "lineside" option on the "add ds1 <board number>" page choose that, I do not remember if that option is available on an R6 because I have not worked on one in years. If you do not have lineside then stay with ISDN. The trunk group type should be tie. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi Marty This one has reared its head again. The connections are direct fibes between the Definity and the Mitel, I will be using the existing internal routing in the Mitel to route to the existing out/in connections, I have been told that I will need a DPNSS2 card alongsde the DS1 card using QSIG? Any ideas? Cheers John

Location: San Diego, CA Rep Power: 5 ![]() | A release 6 Definity has no idea what QSIG is. Perhaps the DPNSS2 card is to help in that regard but I am not familiar with that card. Is this a card that plugs into a slot in the Definity or is this an external device? My Avaya documentation does not mention such a card. Who is telling you that you need a DPNSS2 card? That would be the person you would need to contact for support. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty

So I guess the main question is, is the QSIG supplementary software loaded? If it is not already loaded, getting it turned on will be a big problem for you. Avaya will not touch a release 6 Definity. An Avaya Business Partner might be able to help. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty

Location: San Diego, CA Rep Power: 5 ![]() | I found the QSIG option you need on a release 9 that I have access to. It is one of the "green" features that are invisible to a customer. A craft or dadmin login can see them by typing "display sys special" however neither login can turn them on. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
