Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Caller ID Issue I have been receiving complaints that when someone here calls them at home, their caller ID displays the old name of our company instead of the new name. Yet, when I receive a call from work, the correct name is displayed. Although I believe the issue is telco-related, I was asked to see if the Definity has the old name programmed somewhere, but I am not sure where to look if this is the case. Any thoughts are appreciated...thanks! Mark

Location: Netherlands Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Could it be possible that this name-number mapping is stored in the local memory of those phones? I am not farmiliar with sending names through telco but you could check trunk settings by doing display trunk x (x=trunk number)

Have the people that are getting the wrong name write down the phone number they see when they get the call. Then call the vendor and make sure they update their records for that number. If you make outgoing calls on an ISDN circuit you can define what the call recipient will see as the calling number but there is not a name associated with that number. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Type "list trunk" and see if the old name is associated with a trunk group. If it is, type "change trunk x" and retype the new name in where you see the old name. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | As someone stated earlier, the caller ID name is not generated at the PBX. You can only control the outgoing number. The name that people see is generated by a database owned by the carrier. As I understand it, in times past, there was a universal database that all the carriers used, but now, they each have their own. So, one person can see one name on their phone and another person on a different carrier may see another name. We have had an ongoing problem with this as Alltel is one of our local carriers and they have had some errors in their database. I have not had any success getting to the right person to make a change, but your carrier may be different. Give them a call.
