To me emergency transfer is power failure transfer and that is hardware, no programming required. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Sorry, I need to be more specific. Here is a quote from the Definity Maintenance manual: “The system provides the ability to cut designated analog phones through to CO trunks if the switch cannot provide even minimal phone service. This ability is known as Emergency Transfer. Each port network PPN and EPN can have a separate Emergency Transfer capability…” On the remote Prologix system, I got this alarm: Port Maintenance On Alt Alarm Svc Ack? Date Date Name Brd? Name Type State 1 2 Alarmed Resolved 01 EMG-XFER y WARNING 10/02/12:50 00/00/00:00 After running “status system all” command, I got this: EMERGENCY SELECT SERVICE CABINET TRANSFER SWITCH EXP-LINK STATE MODE TYPE 1A off - CMC 1B - Well, the switch is OFF on the processor circuit pack. I assume I can turn it ON and it will clear the alarm, but what is next? What phones will be assigned as emergency phones? Does it make sense? | ||||||||

The off position and the on position will trigger an alarm in the PBX. Emergency transfer uses an external device that Avaya calls an 808 Emergency Transfer panel. Phones are assigned to this by physically running jumpers. You need copper CO lines (T1 will not do this). What you do is run the trunks thru this panel and then run the jumpers of the analog phones that you want to use for power fail thru the panel also. The panel is powered by a crossconnect to the Aux cable in the PBX. When the PBX loses power that will trip the 808 automatically into power fail mode and the phones you have selected will now be able to receive and make phone calls. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
