Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi My company just moved me to the PBX section is hardley any experience. Some I have resolved and others I am having a difficult time. Can anyone kind of give me some advice on steps I can do. It is a Avaya Definity. Please help......... 1) A user called me and said that they are unable to reach a number in a specific region, but can reach a number in other regions. What can I check? 2) I have a request to modify a route the PBX in order to reach a new office destination; but the addition of the new route will require modification to the existing routes, this might inpact the calls now i guess. What can I do? 3) I was asked to make an administration change to a user extension for a remotely located PBX which has dial-in access from my desk. I try to connect but are unable to do so. How can I gain access to the system? Thank you for the support......

From past experience if you limp your way through these types of changes your will never be afforded training which by you post you are in dire needs of.

It greatly enhances navigating the switch, especially over the console interface, and improves the Procomm command line world, too. Configuration is easy, it prompts during install. You get a big bonus of having access to reports/lists. Never having been to a class for any PBX does make working on a switch a humbling experience--my class was for Nortel Meridian, and this put things for the Avaya and Seimens in perspective--but if you get through the "adds/moves/changes", a great deal of what goes on daily sure does get easier. The DSA software really makes it easier, too. Adm2cic Atlanta

Can you call the number from your phone that the other user cannot? If so, then it probably is the COR suggestion posted earlier. If not, then you will need to change the ARS configuration. The second question concerns route patterns and adding a new route pattern does not require changing existing route patterns, so I am unsure of what you are asking. The third question needs further detail to answer. Where does the connection attempt fail, during modem handshaking, login, etc? __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
