Cool Set date /time not working!

I know, such a simple question that is driving me nutz. Have a definity, and using Avaya System Administrator to do all my changes, (even tried a telnet with the same results)

I am logged in as myself with Super User access and can change everything... yep, except the time. If I do a set time, I can change the type (daylight savings) and the Daylight Savings Rule, can see the local time, but can't change it.

Killing me .... so any help is appreciated.

*sigh*, I am working from a remote location, there must me a command from either the ASA software or a telnet sessions to say show me right?

Before I moved it was a G3, but they replaced with a rack mountable one, I can call someone tomorrow to look on the box, but sure there is a way.

tnx

Couple possibilities.

Create another superuser and see if that one can set the time.

Sometimes things just happen (this is a computer after all) so type "reset system 1" after saving translations. 99.999% of the time this is not service affecting. All terminals will get knocked off like you or anyone running bcms but that is all.

NG on the creating another user. Same thing.

As for things just happen, that to me is Microsft talk as this is a nice linux OS

Does the reset system 1 knock of devices such as IP phones. A lot of our employees (even mine) run over a hardware VPN and use Avaya IP phones, so would they lose connection.

tnx 4 the reply

Linux OS and rack mounted? Verify that it has not been replaced by an S8xxx server (that is the reason I asked switch type in my first message), if it is then time is set from the web interface.

Definitely sounds like S8xxx server. At my previous employer I had an S8700 and got the same results through ASA as described here. It's very easy to change the time, once you know you need to use the browser.

Assuming you are using cmxxx, you need to browse to the server 192.11.13.6, go the the maint. interface. From there you will use the menu options on the left to set date&time. It is the server that does not recognize the time, not the asa, or Definity portion.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay, had a few days off. So with the above, yes I called the office and had them read everything from the rack, the only thing close was the #'s S8500 (so there is the answer to above).

Now, (love the nickname BTW) sherlockphones said it's easy once you know you need to use the browser. Not sure what that means. Also saw the comment assuming I am using cmxxx and not sure on that either.

I know we had the G3 and could everything via consolel or ASA. They upgraded and put that new switch in, ASA works for everything until now, so I am not able to goto main. interface, etc.

Thanks again for the continued reply / help.
