Unhappy VAL Mgr Email Notification Prob

Hi. I'm new here. Can anyone help me out please?

I have VAM 3.0.12. I am attempting to configure the Email Notification dialogue box. I am having problems with the SMTP IP Address/Name.
I am pretty sure I have the correct exchange server name.

I have also checked the radio button for my server reuires authentification. I have imput my current login id and password.
I am getting "timed-out" error; incorrect login.

I am a 3rd party vendor located out of my client's office. I am on their network; but my email exchange server is on my company' network - not my client.

Also, any suggestions regarding bad-quality announcements on val bd tn2501ap fw7? It is only happening at one location on multiple boards. I have these same type of boards at other locations and they are fine.
There is a humming noise in the background on all anncs all val bds at 1 site.

If you have an email address on the company network, but your computer is not part of the domain, you're Exchange login should be domainname\username, then put your Exchange password in as usual.

The timed out error implies that the VAL manager can't communicate with the Exchange server at all. You can try pinging the Exchange server from the VAL manager (not sure how to do that yet). If you're not sure they can communicate, get a network admin person to help you figure that out.

Hope that helps!
