Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Does anyone out there have a fax server connected to their Definity via T1. I have recently added an out going fax server using a Line Side T1 connection to our PBX. This replaced analog stations being used by the Quadrant server. The analog stations rarely returned errors on the fax server now, however, all I see is "General Brooktrout" erros. Quadrant says its a setting in my PBX. Can anyone tell me what causes a "General Brooktrout" error. Or may be what the T1 settings should be on the Line Side. Thanks

Verify with that vendor what they will support. The DS1 should be populated with 24 stations of the type DS1FD and then these put in one or more hunt groups, depending on how this solution is being implemented. My experience with companies that sell FAX servers is that they know what the settings should be in the PBX, it is in their best interests to know this. FAX servers with Brooktrouts in them do have some extensive testing capabilities and they should be able to tell you what is wrong. Test the DS1 board with the following command "te bo xxxxx (board location) long". You can cancel the test after test 146 completes. What fails? __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty

B8ZS/ESF must be ok also or you would fail test 145 and possibly 146 too. After this the only other programming is the hunt group for call processing. There is a lot more to do at the server end than there is to do at the PBX end. There are software and hardware options in the server that must be set. I can only remember one time that it was really difficult to bring up the server and that turned out to be the PBX interface in the server was wrong. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
