I'm a newbie. Please help.

Hello,
I'm inheritting the management of the Definity G3csiV8 phone system which I have no clue on how to manage it, except for basic functions such adding new stations...

The first real task for me is to add additional extensions to (I don't even know what the technical term is...maybe answer-group, hunt-group??) a group of phones that ring when a number is called. I've spents hours messing around with it but have not figured it out yet. The documentation that came with the system really stinks..

Can someone here point me to some documentation resources online where I can learn more about this? Thank you so mucn.

First I will give you a link to Avaya's support web site. You can find documentation there to do anything you want. You can read it on line or download it.

http://support.avaya.com/japple/css/japple?PAGE=Home

Once you are there, go to the search window and enter these three book numbers (not at the same time), 555-233-756, 555-233-757, and 555-233-758. Download these three books and you will have documentation (with examples) of how to do 95% of what you could want to do. You got them when the switch was installed but most people don't open them, they just toss them in the corner and forget about them.

You cannot do everything that you see in the books so don't consider them to be a document of all possibilities. For instance, a Release 8 switch cannot do Meet-me Conferencing.

What you want is probably a hunt group and the Advanced Admin book shows you how to set one up, with examples. I say probably because there are also Call Pickup Groups and Call Answer Groups. It depends on what kind of call it is and how you want it answered.

Anything not covered by these three books you will find in other documents at the web site above.

Thank you very much for your help. I will give that a try.

I think it probably will be more than enough, since I only need to configure basic features.

Thank you, again!
