Location: philly Rep Power: 0 ![]() | FTP from RAS Hello all, I need to remotely update license files on an 8700 and 12 lsp's. Does any one know how to get this done via just one ras connection, the one to the 8700. I do not have the dialups for the lsp's. My thoughts were to upload all the license files into the ftp dir on the 8700 and then use manual ftp from bash on the 8700 to transfer the files to the lsp's. I've tried to ftp from bash to one of the lsp's but I'm getting connection refused. All the lsp's have anonymous enabled. Has anyone tried something like this or know if it's possible? Thanks in advance

You can change that from the CLI. If you can do that then you should be able to get the file into each of the servers own FTP directory. You will have to do the upgrade from the CLI because I don't believe you can get to the web page from a telnet session. I do not have the commands in front of me but check the documentation for the CLI commands. Make sure to upgrade all the LSPs first and the S8700 last. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty

Location: philly Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the response Marty, I just found out how to do it. Do exactly as follows and it'll work for you. Have done this many times. I works just a you described. Don't forget that the receiving server must have it's ftp server activated. If your are RAS'd into the main site you will not have access to the lsp's web page to enable ftp. You need to do this via command line on each LSP that you wish to send files to. The sequence steps here is important: 1. Use web page to download files to the main site. 2. Telnet to main using RAS. 3. cd /var/home/ftp/pub. 4. Telnet to the LSP where you want to send the files. 6. Type sudo ftpserv on. You should se an OK. 7. Exit out of the LSP and go back to the main site. 8. Type ftp {lsp ip address} and login as anonymous, no password. 9. Type cd pub <--- Don't forget to do this!!!! 9. Type bi 10. Type hash 11. Type put {filename} Preso!!! You have you files for the lsp in the ~ftp/pub directory. Telnet to you remote LSP and do you thing. Exit back to the main, do the same think for the next LSP etc... etc ... Hope this helps
