Audix disconnecting

Hello All,

We are having a problem with a definity and intuity. Maybe 80% of the time when you call our auto attendant you hear three beeps and then a dialtone. I have tried calling internally and have not had the problem occur, it only seems to happen when calling from the outside. We have a Definity 6 and a Intuity map5. We have a partial T1 for our calls. Any ideas?

Thanks

No immediate ideas. Three beeps usually means an acceptance code from the PBX telling you that you have successfully completed a command like send all calls or call forward.

An auto attendant is an Audix function so you might try there. Monitor the analog channels for the Audix and then call the AA number several times. You see a call land on the monitor each time you try it. It will step through the channels, i.e. you will land a different channel each time you call. Does your test call show up each time you try it or does it fail on a particular channel each time? Do all the channels have roughly the same number of calls on them?

When I moniter the audix lines the problem is happening on different lines but those lines will work fine most of the time. I am wondering if it is a problem with one or some of the lines on the T1 coming in.

Unless your T1 is analog, I wouldn't think the problem is there. T1's today are digital and either it works or it doesn't. In the old days you had individual CO units for each channel and you could have one channel fail in a T1. Status the trunk group, if all the members say in service then you are getting all the channels you are paying for.

You do say that you are getting a partial T1, you might verify with the vendor that you and them agree on the number of channels you have. If you are expecting eight channels and they are sending you ten, this would cause intermittent call problems.

I was testing with this problem and found when I get the dial tone after the three beeps I am actually getting an outside line that allows me to outcall from the pbx. Meaning when I get the dialtone I dial 9 plus an outside number and the call goes through showing two trink ports connected. I don't know if this gives anyone any ideas.

This goes back to my original comment about three beeps being an acceptance code from the PBX. I would check the AA programming to make sure that this is not coming from there.

What you are describing sounds like remote access. Type "display remote" and see if that has any entries there.

I checked display remote and found nothing. I have found this problem when covering to a regular voicemail as well. I also founrd today a dropped call when calling into to a station. I think there is something weird going on beyond the audix connection.

Check your analog lines into Audix. On page 2 of each station form, make sure all of the feature options are set to N... especially the distinctive ring and flash. Those 2 combined (set to yes) on a fax, modem or other electronic device will sometimes cause the exact problem you describe.

Good Luck!

Are U using a Vector to lead to your Intuity auto attendant?

Thanks Bob. I changed those analog stations and the problem has not happened since.
