Location: Colchester, Essex, UK Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Creating a CDN Hello We're running a Meridian Option 11 and Symposium Express. As I understand it a call comes in, Meridian uses the idc table to find which CDN to pass it to, Symposium picks up the call as it's "acquired" the cdn then deals with it. On the right track so far?? I want to create a new queue now. I know how the idc tables work, and I can set up the necessary in Symposium but I haven't a clue how to set up a CDN in the meridian. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?? thanks Dave

Same LD, 23. If you don't have the manuals the link below will assist you. So the basic concept is: Someone calls xxx-xxx-7999 where 7999 is a DID in your switch. You IDC 7999 to your CDN: say 6999. (Or you can create the CDN as 7999 and skip the IDC step). (Note: I always use the IDC as it gives you a test point for call processing - more on that later)... In the CDN (LD 23) you default it to the ACD: say 5699. (This allows the calls from 7999 to hit the ACD in the event the CDN fails). You program the CDN as acquired in symposium and route based on skillset to the sets programmed with Key 0 ACD 6599 0 PosID. This is all based on the Symposium Agent login to the ACD set. About the IDC: As I stated I use the IDC as a testing point. Lets say for example you get a trouble call: "xxx-xxx-7999 isn't working". This could be a CO problem or a switch problem. So you would change your IDC 7999 6999 to your Maintenance set DN (say: 7000), the IDC would now be IDC 7999 7000. Now dial the xxx-xxx-7999 number - if your set rings that it's not a CO problem (the call is being delivered to your switch). If your set doesn't ring then it is a CO problem. Location: Colchester, Essex, UK Rep Power: 0 ![]() | hey guys, thanks for the help! got myself the new acd queue, cdn and symposium skill set all working nicely now. wasn't so painful after all!! Now I've got another question.... Before we got Symposium installed we used to idc straight from the external number to the ACD queue number. It was when we had Symposium installed that the engineer created CDNs to go in front of our queues, presumably he had to in order to allow Symposium to hijack things I see the purpose of CDNs now that we are running Symposium, but what would they have been used for originally, back in the days before Symposium? Was there are reason for using them or were they just a feature of the switch to keep it "futureproof"? Dave
