Just got our first syposium so I need a newbie crash course on some of this stuff while our gurus are vacationing.

Last night 'they' rebooted the server, this morning all of the analog ACD agents that feed into the IVR were logged out which in the past never happend unless the PBX reloaded... the IVR is sort of dumb to the lines that are plugged into it and can't log agents in or out so we have to do it manually. Can a reboot of symposium cause agents to be logged out? I don't completely understand the concept of 'aquiring' a station yet so bear with me.

When I went to log the agents in via buttset to the frame they wouldn't log in, symposium showed them aquired as did the PBX however the only way I could log them is was by deaquiring, logging in and then reaquireing... basically a multistep PITA process for 70 odd agents.

Is it normal to have to deaquire, log in and then reaquire in order to log agents in? From what I've read with a few searches on here that doesn't sound quite right.

I'll verify with our guys here but I think that is normal. We, too have many type 500 style ports configured for various automated purposes. Our developers designed a way to log those agents all in via a remote script. I'm not sure what resources you have access to in-house but with that many agents to log in it might be worth the time to look. In our case it made quite a difference in the amount of time it took for some bodies to be running around the punch blocks frantically versus watching a script execute for a few seconds.

Thanks for looking into the issue. A remote login script would be cool to have, at this point I'm not exactly sure what symposium and cannot do in terms of control over agents yet and unfortunatly the in house developement of stuff of that nature pretty much starts with me.

I had the login procedure down to a science with a buttset using 66 blocks in a row with a chart taped over them... now it appears that I have to deaquire every TN and then log them in and reaquire them.

Someone mentioned that to me awhile ago but after digging through LD 10 I can't find anything on it... there is an ALOG prompt in LD 23 but it requires a couple of other things to be set to YES... mostly for MerMail applications and I haven't summed up the courage to mess with it since this particular customer is bit touchy.

Slagburn,

To re-acquire phoneset after a Symposium Reboot is not a normal way to work.
It happen at our site when we rebooted the PBX without shutting down Symposium before. We fixed it with an ENLS l u on each loop.
Perhaps it could help in your case too.

BTT... anyone? Or is it so obvious that I should be stripped of my Nortel underwear and shot on sight for not being able to figure it out?
