| Junior Member | Comdial DX-80 Wiring Setup? Ok have a Comdial DX-80 setup in my old office I will be moving it to another location and because of distance i cannot inspect the current setup. Researching online i came up with a general idea of how to setup this system: This phone system is to support 4 incoming phone Lines, Have up to 6 phones each with an extension (6 extensions 101- 106). My Idea of the SETUP: Phone lines from each room into this: 50 pair - 66 M Block with 25 Pair Prewired connector - Leviton on sellntell.com Item NumberL 40066-MW
(put www in front of the address) sellntell.com/find_htm/pb.htm?action=item&SK=283 ...Then from the block into the Comdial KSU DX-80? 1. Does the Comdial come with a 25 pair connector (Male?) i can just plug into the block? 2. I also have 4 rooms that need Fax machine lines. I do have separate cat 3 running form each room. Will there be spots on the Comdial KSU for Fax connectors? or do i just run the fax into the 66 Block? 3. i READ ABOUT THE 110 Block patch panel, how would i use that in this situation? 4. What other items or recommendations would you guys suggest? Thanks for your time i really appreciate it.  |

| Senior Member | It doesn't much matter what you use, you still have to get 10 modular jacks out of the box into some sort of distribution. Express Communications Supply Inc., Qucik Cables, Comdial sells cables that do just this thing, bringing out the lines and stations to a single 25 pair cable. This saves you from having to make up 10 base cords for modular-to-modular. Really, your best bet is to call in a professional or a good amateur. This is a one or two hour job for a professional and it would cost you about the same for parts, especially if you buy the parts you're looking at from some internet vendor. The base of the DX-80 is modular, so you need to build a frame that will accept modular jacks. Here's a frame for an Avaya Partner. The principle is the same, except there are 2 pairs for a Partner station. All the house cables are on the left block and the station cables are on the right. Bridge clips link the stations to the house cable so it can be opened up for testing. http://www.microtelcommunications.com/linked/1.jpg Of course, any old modular patch panel could be devised to use the modular jacks of the DX-80, and the 25-pair raw cable can terminate on a 110 or 66 bluck.
