dx-80 problem

I'm having a problem with this phone system where incoming calls ring but when the user answers the call there is nothing there. They hang up and it rings again but when they answer it this time the call is connected. Has anyone heard of this before or have a suggestion?

Easiest way to diagnose is to put a standard single line set on the line before the phone system. Answer a call if no one is there pick up the single line set to see if the person is there. If they are there you may have an equipment issue. You could also hook up SMDR to capture caller ID to help troubleshoot.

Ok, still working on this problem, heres what I have so far.
Problem only occurs if the call is answered as the beginning of the ring voltage is coming through. When the call is picked up the talk battery drops out and the phone system drops the line. I might could work around this issue if there's a threshold or a timeout that I can adjust on the phone system to adjust how long it goes before it drops the line in the absence of talk battery.

Or if I could figure out why it drops out. It doesn't drop talk battery unless the DX-80 is on the line.

Is this on a new install or has this always been a problem?

new install?

It's not a new install for the phone system, but the carrier was recently changed.
