Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Will old MC3810's work with Cisco Call Manager Can someone tell me if the old MC3810's will work with Cisco Call Manager 4.1. They are not listed under supported gateways. Our business is considering VoIP and our engineers are setting up a lab. We don't want to purchase new routers for the lab. Do Cisco mc3810's work with call manager 4.1? If so, do they support both h.323 and mgcp? We have the latest 12.1 IOS running on them. Does call manager support non-cisco routers like Adtrans?

Does the Adtran support full H.323 connectivity? If so, then it should work just fine. Since H.323 is not a Client/Server connection, then TAC will probably not trouble shoot the dial-peers with you if there is a call routing issue. If the MC 3810's support H.323, which I believe they should on the 12.1 code, they will work as gateway's in CM, but you will not pick them from a list, you would simply set them up as a generic H.323 gateway. MGCP for the 3810 to CM 4.1.x is not supported and will not be supported is my guess. The bigger question is this, What will be the PSTN connection off of that 3810? I don't think they support the MultiFlex Trunk cards for T-1 PRI conncectivity. It may only have enough DSP resources for BRI, which is kind of a waste o time really. If you have CM 4.1.x then you must have an office that is not SOHO, or SMB. If you are bigger than those, PRI connectivity is vital. It would handle E&M, but then you have no Caller ID and that is one of the biggest end user benefits to a new system. I also know that the 3810's are EOL and I would not recommend putting phone infrastructure on non-supported hardware. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/...08007de51.html Let me know if you can't get to that link, you may need a CCO login. As far as H.323 v MGCP, we have a running feud in the office with advocates on both sides. H.323 is more flexible, but MGCP lowers your admin by a ton. If you set your system up correctly, then the Flexibility of H.323 is not generally needed unless you are multi-tennant and wanting to call between, or if you are restricted by another PBX that fronts the system and actualy controlls the dial-plan. I like things easy....MGCP. __________________ Deus ex machina
