Paging with Cisco Call Manager

How do I set up paging with Cisco Call Manager?

It looks like a cinch to do with CCME, but not with the full-blown product

edit: to clarify - I mean audio paging through the speaker on the phone, which can be set up via multicast addresses in CCME ...

CME has this as a feature because everything is run through the same router in IOS. Full Blown CM does not have this is 4.1 and requires a 3rd party product.

See: InformaCast or IPSession or Aptigen products. Turns the phones into an audio page by zones as well as text paging by zones.

Paging

OK , so do these other devices have the analog output? We have an existing VALCOM paging system, with multiple zones. We are looking at CM for both of our new sites, currently Option61.

The other products turn the phones themselves into the paging system. You can intrusively or discrelty page, break up into zones, groups, depts, and you have the added layer of sending text pages to the phones. We used this a lot if te internet or e-mail went down. Send an XML text to all the phones and then no one would call the help desk. They loved it and the staff loved the fact that they were not bothered by overhead pages all the time (the fact that e-mail and internet went down all the time was another group's issue and another story altogether.) You can also queue up a message so if something happens you can send the message (voice or text) by simply dialing a predefined internal or DID number and code. This is usefull in a warehouse if the guys hae the WiFi 7920 phones which are also XML capable. Send a text that says, stop the line, or sutdown, etc.

IPSession set up in less than 2 hours, Berbee's product took a bit longer. Aptigen's product is newer and I have not set it up, but looks easy from the demo.

As for the analog hook, CM can access a paging system via the analog VG gateway's (VG224, VG24 or som FXS ports on a 28xx or 38xx series router (26xx and 36xx should be able to as well, depending on code level).

If you are looking at CM in multiple locations a product like IPSession will also come with several other applications out of the box that will be usefull, 911 call alerting is a big one.
