Call Accounting.

We use our own Call Accounting on the Toshiba system we have. Its called Pachedyrm. This also works on the Tadiran System. We can get it to work on most systems out there. Let me know if you want to know more about it and I can get any info we have on it.

P.S. We have a multi site version as well.

The OTM / TM3 Billing application is very solid and probably deployed as widely as any other Nortel compatible application. There are some capacity limitations for much large organizations (8000+ TNs) however the product is very stable and offers a wide array of reports.

While any Nortel Partner / Re-seller can offer the product, support, implementation, training and custom report requirements require specialists and there is a shortage of those out there for this application.

Some of our research shows that Nortel hints at 3-4 experienced 3rd party service provides for this product in North America. Of these the best (reliability and expertise) and most reasonable is offered by eteltech.com

Call Accounting

Obone, I used Etel earlier this year and they were great. They installed OTM which included a versatile Call Accounting system. Im familiar with the intellicontrol product and although it has lots of good features, I find it fairly dated and not user friendly.

Avotus Intelecontrol - from what I was told in the admin class they are now offering a windows based product called Enterprise.

To echo the above comments - the Intelecontrol product is stable however dated, this come to mind everytime I'm plinking my way through a SCO Unix TE rather than working through a common app of some type.

Speaking of SCO (the base operating system for Intelecontrol) the last time I checked they have more lawyers on staff than engineers. This leads to problems when Avotus points at the OS for issues and SCO points at the hardware vendor who in turn points back at Avotus.

To the best of my knowledge the Intelecontrol product will process SMDR from SL100s but will not do any type of administration interaction - a real PITA for networks like mine where mutiple SL100s have the highest number of users and we're still doing programing changes manually.

Call tracing - Intelecontrol relies soley on CLID trace to track calls through a network of tandem sites, in some cases (ACD agents for one) the CLID isn't always accurate so an alternate dialed number and time trace would be nice.

In order to take full advantage of the Intelecontrol product one has to either have an experienced UNIX admin on staff or hire someone to take care of shell scripts and things of that nature that are outside of what one can do from the 'GUI'.

With the proper training, OTM or TM3 (exactly the same CDR software) are extremely robust and reliable. The reports are numerous and better yet, you can purchase customized reports specifically for your organization. Nortel's Global Connects TM3 workshop/seminar was presented by eTEL Technologies. They provide all kinds of OTM/TM3 services including custom reports.

The best solution is dependent on a number of factors. Many here are posting their favourites because of personal experience, use and performance.

This is the Nortel forum and I assume most of you are looking for Nortel Compatible Products. Nortel asks its partners to undergo lab testing and then deems them compatible upon successful completion. Avaya, Cisco and others have similar programs.

I have found RSI to have the best call accounting offerings for Nortel telecost.com/nortel. I have also used a very inexpensive ($375.00) call accounting software from callaccounting.ws. I have had experience with Avotus and Veramark as well.

It is difficult to determine the best solution unless you understand the customer needs. In general though I would recommend RSI. They have the most communication management products for Nortel that my customers like to use.

Call Accounting Mate is by far the best shareware product on the market. It is web based, cheap and supported via email (www.callaccounting.ws).

I recommend RSI to my customers because they offer a solution for every flavour of enterprise -- Revolution for SMB, Shadow CMS for Enterprise and Hospitality environments. They also offer tailored solutions for Nortel, Avaya, Cisco and others (www.telecost.com).

I have tried Avotus/TM3 but it has many problems. I would consider eCAS as well. They have a fair product but a little more expensive than RSI.
