My tone generator wand died?

I have a Black Box tone generator wand(the one with the speaker) that was working fine but then just gives me a monotone(like an alarm). I though its low batt so I replaced it, but still gives me the same tone just by pressing the button.

Could it be dead? Please help me troubleshoot what's wrong with it. I've only had it for a year and a half.

Thanks
Jomar

have you tried a different generator to see maybe if that is the issue.

Hi rixride thanks for the reply. Yup I've tried with a co workers generator and wand.

Its not the generator that's broken its the one with the speaker. Coworkers call it wand, I call it toner. Everytime I press on the button it would just give me a low pitched tone even without the tone generator. If I try tracing a cable as soon as i press the button on the toner it would just buzz and not able to hear signal from tone generator at all.

I would open it up and see if the wiring is damaged inside, sounds like you might have a short.

Yup I've opened it up no shorts on any of the parts. But when I turn the volume down I can hear the tone.

On a volume of 5-9 it would just give that high pitched tone. I don't know if its the volume control that's broken.

In the time you've spent on this thread, you could have taken $60 and bought a new PROBE for your TONER.

"This is the thread that never ends. It goes on and on my friend. I thought it was over but it is not. This is the thread that never ends"

Repeat as necessary until you get a new probe.
