RE:

The setup is:
I have two MICS at one site. The main MICS XC has one PRI circuit used for dialing out; local and LD. The main MICS also has a second DTI card set up as a PRI and is terminated to the DTI card on the secondary MICS via a patch cord, with proper wiring.
The secondary MICS DTI card is set up for PRI, as well. All of my routing and destination codes are correct.

Why does this not work?
Can this work? If so, how?

RE:

Yes, it does work and it works well....

First off, in order to connect a PRI between two MICS you must have:
1) Norstar Advanced Networking Option keycode at both sites
2) MICS 6.1 software at each site

Once that is done, you would setup the pt-to-pt PRIs as SL-1. Setup your routing as PRIVATE between the systems, and PUBLIC for 9+ access from system B through system A out to the PSTN.

On system A, you will need to make sure you are using the REMOTE ACCESS PACKAGES to allow DID calls to traverse through system A to system B, and for the 9+ dialing mentioned in the last paragraph.

Let us know what you find...

Will this work even if I have the systems right next to each other in the same room. Terminated using a patch cord?

Software upgrade

Is "Norstar Advanced Networking Option keycode"
the same thing as the MCDN?

Yes it is, but Norstar Advanced networking Option is for the Norstar version and the MCDN keycode is for the BCM.

Also, on your patch cord, be sure to roll pins 1/2 and 4/ 5 on the opposite sides so the transmit and receive are in it proper places.

What hawaiitech said is a crossover cable to those less experienced on the site. Shooter, let us know how it went. I have not had the opportunity to use this feature yet.

I have just upgraded the MICS 5.0 to 6.1. Both systems are PRI enabled.
Now I am waiting for Nortel to email me two MCDN keycodes -
Hopefully, I have most of my preliminary programming complete, with the exception of those i cannot get at until the networking keycodes are entered.
