i have a cust that has only m7208 phones, and i was trying to help them w/programming, but they cannot access programming using any of their phones. i know i have w/w customers in the past using an m7208 phone. i was wondering if there is a setting in programming that allows this change. i realize that since i cannot get them into programming then i won't be able to change their settings anyway, but at least i will know it for future reference. how do the techs out in the field make changes in programming? i assume they have to carry an m7310 phone w/them to make such changes.
thanks,
tim

WORK

Programming must be done from a 2-line display set. Exception, the older 6X16 and 3X8 systems would allow it to be done from a 1-line display set. I carry a RAD in my laptop case just for cases such as this.

thanks Ramjet, i kinda thought that it was only used in the older systems, but i was not sure if there was a way to modify that in programming. i'm not sure what version this particular cust that i was trying to w/w had. they could have had an upgrade and then they weren't able to program from them anymore. if that was the case, you would have thought that the tech would have either suggested that they get a larger phone or for that matter just gave them a larger phone for free. because now what is going to happen every time this cust needs to make a change in programming, do we send out our tech to change a name on a phone? i would think it would just be cheaper to give them a phone then to have to go out there every time they want something changed.
thanks
tim

I don't know tim, other than the inconvinience of the trip, you get to charge them a minimum hour just for a name change. After a while when they get tired of it, sell them a phone and show them how to change it. Don't get me wrong here, I like for all of my customers to know how to change certain things, but most don't want to know.
