In what order does a Norstar MICS select outbound lines in a line pool? I would like lines to be selected in a particular order; some lines need to be open for incoming calls unless they are needed as a "last option" for outgoing.

The following refers to analog (POTS) lines-

Pools start at the highest Norstar Line number and go down as lines are in use ; i.e.
Lines assigned to pool A

Line 001 pool A
Line 002 pool A
Line 003 pool A
Line 027 pool A
Line 049 pool A

The order that they are selected as users press 9 (or any other pool access code for pool A). The system selects the highest Norstar line number, that is not in use, for the user to dial out. As lines become vacant, the system starts at the "bottom" again.

Line 049
Line 027
Line 003
Line 002
Line 001

If someone knows differently, please school me, but the only way I know to "change" this order would be to swap the lines around where they are physically connected to the system. To put it more simply, I know of no way to effect, via programming, this order.

Thanks for the explanation; that confirmed what I assumed. I understand the Norstar line pools, but given my closest Norstar is 600 miles away, its hard for me to put a buttset on an outgoing trunk to confirm this.

If you want certain lines to be incoming only, place them in pool B, then your lines in pool A can be for OTG only. I do this on occasion, and generally will have the pool B lines first in the system then the pool A lines.

Console Issue

I already do this here, but the customer doesn't want to pay for additional outbound-only trunks, and wants to include certain trunks in various trunk groups in the outbound pool, but wants them to be the last picked.
