NPNC 'Not' Updated 9/12/04 but

Our building suffered intermittent power outages. Our Norstar MICS 6.0 and all relative programming (i.e. CCR trees, DN )are working fine. The problem is with our voicemail system. We are not able to access voicemail (inactive feature); automated attendant, Call Pilot Manager usually accessible using the http address are not working. We have tried restarting Call Pilot (by unplugging the power source for 4minutes) and the led's on the left hand side -light up and go off a few minutes later, the they all flicker quickly. The led's that indicate lan connection etc never light up.

It seems like the system cannot reboot but without being able to manually access Call Pilot -we are at a lost..Any ideas?

Replace the call Pilot! First, plug a laptop into the serial port on the CP and observe the screen as it boots. This will give you an indication of how far it gets before it stops.

Batteries

You may have lost programming and just need to set it up as if it were being done for the first time. Start from step one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is something that i have noticed w/the CP VM, whenever it goes down, it will not come back up doing a reboot as easily as the startalk flash or the NAM vm's...i'm not sure how the tech brings it back up when he goes out to the site?

External Call Forwarding

I tried the serial cable and the screen was blank. Trying to connect through the browser is useless. If I have to replace the Call Pilot; that means purchase the unit again or the flash card? This unit was purchased new last summer.

When you say reboot..you mean unplug the power cord and wait 4 minutes..correct?

correct on that rebooting process. but what i have seen recently is that the callpilot sometimes will not reboot using that process. i'm not sure what the better process would be? [/quote]

If you are getting a blank screen when connected via the serial cable, the unit is fried. Replace it. Yes you can just get a hardware unit and reuse the flash card, if it too isn't fried.

Meridian Mail is full

Wow! The unit was over $2500...it seems like we didn't get our money's worth on this item at all. Wouldn't you know it is 2 months out of warranty!

Please be sure to have all equipment protected and battery backed-up.
This step is crucial and invaluable.
