i highly would have recommended that you should have purchased a maintenance contract after your warranty expired. i have come to realize the real value of these. it would have covered the replacement of your VM system if it indeed did go bad. it also would have covered a tech to go out and check it out so that you know for sure. it also covers whenever a phone goes bad, which is very common. i know its a little late, but you might want to check into the cost of one of these for the future.

exp, are you the end user, or a vendor? It is very important to have a ups not only on CP vm, but on any unit that has some sort of drive, ie hard drive or flash. If you look at the sticker on the front of the CP, it will have a date. That is the date that Nortel will honor as the warranty. Look and see, and post back. Sorry about your trouble, but I can't help but wonder, if you are the end user, did your vendor not offer (or insist) the unit be installed with a ups????????

We are the end-user. There is not an UPS installed just a surge protector and the installer did not mention anything. I guess we will have that taken care of immediately.

I did find out that the item was still under warranty - it appears the vendor provides an 18 month warranty on new systems. Their technician had our unit for a week trying to get into it to run tests but was unsuccessful-they shipped us a replacement about 10 days later.
Problem is this unit appears to be version 2.0 and now we are waiting for the CD.

Thank you for all of your help.
