i have a table on our company support website to help non-customers figure out what level of software they have by going into Maintenance and looking at the Software Version then use the table to match the s/w version to the s/w level. i have the s/w version for all levels except for 6.0XC for the MICS.

Talk to boss

Did anyone find out what this MICS-XC software has that the regular MICS 6.1 doesn't? A vendor is telling me I need it but I don't know why?

MICS XC software supports 2 expansion cartridges and Companion (manufacturer discontinued), other than that they are identical.

How many sets do you need on your system?
Are you networking two switches together?

These are just a couple of reasons you may need XC software. I'm not familiar with your proposed configuration.
Under the current configuration you may have too many sets for standard 6.1 software and may need XC software.

Also, if you are networking two MICS together you need XC software to allow for the 3rd T1 card (Which is good for ONLY networking two switches together)

not sure how this works, but I have attached the new table referred to earlier which tells you what software level you have based upon the SP version found in maintenance.

Also, XC software is not required for a 3rd DTI card, just a trunk module. However Nortel recommends 2 Fiber COMBO cards when installing 2 DTIs or more IF you are using standard E&M trunking to increase the number of DTMF receivers, and thus XC software would be required.

Again, NA Software supports 1 expansion cartridge, and XC Software supports up to 2 expansion cartridges.

Thanks Brewsky,
I was always under the impression that you needed XC sw for the 3rd Networking DTI. I have just confirmed that you are correct.
Thanks for bringing that up and straightening it out for me!
