Serenade/Aria etc?

I have a Nam with desktop messaging, had the DM working on windows 98, migrated to XP and can't make it work. For kicks i migrated one box back to 98 and cant make that one work now either - in the last instance, the install disk doesnt seem to install the Nortel.nab, cant find it anywhere on the HD or CD. In both XP and 98 i can log into the mailbox to administer it, but not for actual voicemail messages thru outlook. Desktop administration thru IP works great too.
Where do i find/create the nortel.nab? Is there a different install disk for XP or do i have to massage it by moving .dll's around manually? Has anyone made desktop messaging work with XP?
I have other questions regarding speech recog, but i'll do one thing at a time...
Thanks,
Marty

Does adding a new ROUTE causes INI??

OK update. after some hours of playing around, i have managed to add a copy of my personal address book.wab renamed Nortel.nab which allowed me to continue thru the install process as listed in the docs. The effect doing that has had is my outlook xp seems to do everything except see new messages. I can send messages to any user on the Nam thru the PC, log in and administer my mailbox thru outlook, but outlook wont see any new messages, nor will the desktop messaging icon in the task bar see any new messages. The icon does go green with the big zero saying no new messages. I suspect the Nortel.nab is the culprit for that issue, but its nowhere to be found on the CD or previous to my renaming trick. Going to sleep on it, nearly 1:30am.

Prelude Install

As far as I know outlook XP won't happen. I had a customer get to the same point as u are and after many many hours trying couldnt get it. As you probably know Nortel says it is not supported.

Is this ? hard

Sad thing is i've had it working on Windows 2000, and i can't find the notes i made when i acheived that miracle. :nopity:
my next attempt i think will be to load windows 98 in virtual PC, get it working there and do an upgrade... if it works that way, its registry/dll issues i think...

Is this ? hard

Ok, so i had nothing better to do this weekend. Here's what I've found out:
I've been playing with virtual PC to facilitate easy trial and error fixes - creating copies of win98 hard drives and manipulating them in different ways.
win98/office97 - works ok.
win98/office 97 upgraded to xp - works ok until I do security updates from windows update.
win98/office2000 clean install - works ok
win98 upgraded to xp with previous office2000 working install - works ok.

However, I can't seem to make my actual winXP/officeXP work fully. I can administer the mailbox, and even send messages to users on the NAM through outlook, but it won't download messages off the nam new or not.

Next thing im going to try - remove office from actual machine, scrape all entries from registry, install office97, reinstall DM and see if it works.

I sure hope this helps someone else too...
I have been successful at making desktop messaging for NAM work on Windoze XP and Office 2000. I have not been successful at making it work consistantly with OfficeXP however, and i'm not sure why. (perhaps office XP is buggy?) If anyone else manages to make it work with officeXP post how you did it...

PLz Plz Help me

I've given up on keeping desktop messaging for the moment, DM works for a week, then stops working, making Outlook VERY sluggish. Spending 2 minutes re-installing the DM application from CD (no settings need to be tweaked) and it works again for a week or so. I have no idea why it stops working. On a lark, i tried installing call pilot desktop messaging S/W to see if it would log into the NAM and pull messages out. Its install process is flawless compared to the NAM, but alas it doesn't pull the messages out. I may explore that more if i get some time again.
If anyone has an idea why DM stops working after a period, post it here and i'll play with it again... Until then...

3903 Repair?

There is a patch coming out soon for office XP. We had Nortel make one for us and they will soon be releasing it.
