| Will target lines pass the received digits once the card converts the DTMF? Meaning, if I have a target line that has the rec'vd digits of 1234. And I have an application on the other end that is looking for those same digits, will the Norstar pass it on? It this sounds like I am confused, I am... TIA, CMA | ||||||||

Location: Meechigan Rep Power: 5 ![]() | I don't have any experience with fax servers, that being said, I would assume they would ordinarily be connected to a POTS (or good ole' analog line (just like at home)). If I can guess where you're going with this, I think you are correct to be concerned. Any N* extension with an ATA (you are correct, you would need one per ext.) would ring when programmed correctly (Target Lines and such) but, unless they have a new model I haven't heard of, ATA's do not pass Caller-ID (see previous posts on this subject ad naseum). If this is what you mean by "passing on digits" to the end device. That was a major league guess as far as where I was going. Please post back to let me know if I was in the ballpark.

| I have been through this and i settle for a Tsu120 w/ 2 dsx1. I ask telco to send DID digits 2200 to last four channels, and DID digits to 3300 to first 20 channels. I ended up installing a digital interface w/in the fax server. Right Fax with Brook trout cards about 3-4 years ago. Fax server is looking for DID because the digits match the assigned user mailbox usually integrated within exchange, thus allowing them to receive their faxes in outlook. ~nails | ||||||||

| well, I dont know how much IT experience you have, but you will need to replace the analog card in the server with a T1 and suggest getting support from the fas server software provider. As far as telco is concerned you will need to talk with them and let them know what you want. Also dont forget to explain how much more this will cost the customer. If they dont want this route they can only have faxes go to a general mailbox through the analog tunking and will have to be forwarded to the proper recipient manually. ~n | ||||||||

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | The only other way is to have another T1 card in your system, then when the system receives those digits you can pass it through the 2nd T1 card into the Fax server. I have set many of these up and it works great. Make sure you also set remote access package to allow trunk to trunk routing. I will elaborate further when you are ready to proceed. An analog device on a station port will not "kick out" digits and therefore cannot work as you need it to. The seperate trunk group on the T1 with the Adtran breaking out those specific channels has a monthly recurring charge from you LEC. The way I described above does not. Cheers Brewsky
