RE:License Problem

In an earlier post Brewsky Said:

If you are willing to wait about 6-12 months, Nortel will be releasing a product that will be perfect for you... It will be replacing the Norstar Compact ICS or CICS. "

Well heres the scoop:

It is so far being called the BCM 50 (subject to change)

It will be released in Feb with Betas in Oct

It has all the features of a BCM 3.6 except IVR and call center Profesional Etc. It will not be replacing the CICS it will remain. The new system is similar looking to a StarTalk Flash and can have 2 Exp cabinets. Each cabinet will have the abillity to have a BCM module in it.

It will support 3-30 phones.

The base module will support 4 loop start lines, 12 TDM sets, 4 analog ports and up to 32 IP phones and 24 IP trunks (with Keycodes)

It will have a new GUI. I saw a screen shot and it looked much better.

And a big annoucement for all you long time Norstar guys.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PROGRAM CORE TELEPHONY FROM A PHONE!!

and for you PC guys:

Drum roll please.....

It runs on LINUX!!!

It will cost about the same as a CICS if you compare feature to feature. When you start adding IP (by keycode of course) then of couse it goes up.

And let me throw in a couple of more:

Norstar 7.0 scheduled for the 4thQ it will add back fiber ports 13 and 14

BCM 3.7 End of the year release adding:

DECT phones
an 802.11 solution
and more Succesion Interoperbilty with a 1000/100M, 2000 or MCS 5000

Hope this clears some things up..

I just saw the wiring breakdown for this unit. Everything is off of one amphenol with the extra expansion cabinet off another amphenol. I can't discuss it, but it's pretty cool...

Hopelessly Confused... please help...

Modley, where ya been????? Long time no post. I have a customer that will fit right in to the new N* software, as they are currently running approx 186 sta's and 2 PRI's. This will allow them to expand and not have to spend the dough on a new Succesion. I got the word on N* 7.0 and Call Pilot 3.0 via the email updates from Nortel. I have 1 site that is seriously considering being a beta site for both. Good to have ya back in Nortel land!!!!!
