From the "I'm not proud to be a Maine-iac" anymore

My older MICS system has 2 digit extensions. Does the newer version (5.0) have the ability to allow for 2 digit extensions? It won't let me setup anything but 3-7 digit extension. If not, is there a software version that will allow 2 digit extensions and PRI?

As long as there is no expansion card in slots 1 and 2 you can do 2 digit extensions. If there is an expansion slot, then the system must reserve a certain amount of DNs to possibly be used by those ports.

The only cards in the system are the DTI, a DS and a timing card.

Nortel Compatible Voicemail

ok, this is the dealio...

Lets take a look at whats reserved on a MICS (generic software):
DNs: 32 B1 & 32 B2 extensions.

The B2 extensions are needed for applications such as voicemail, smdr, cta-100.

Now, with 4.0 and higher (4.0 was the first to allow PRI) we need more:
Hunt Groups: 30 (DNs are reserved for this as well)...

So, 64 DNs for B1/B2, and 30 for Hunt Groups equals 94 DNs reserved.. This does not allow for any external dialing codes, so Nortel decided at MICS 4.0 to only allow 3 digit DNs or higher (thus 10 fold on the extensions).

Your only option is to get 3.0 software and use an external PRI converter to change it to standard T1. The equipment is available through Adtran and a few other companies.

Sorry...
