Hey Guys,
Here's a good one. I've got a MICS 5.0 with PRI that is dropping calls intermittently. RBOC cleared the T1. Any ideas?

What do you mean when you say RBOC cleared the T1? What kind of office is this behind, how long has it been inst, what are your PRI settings, etc.

I have the same or similar problem. Customer states that they are on several calls and all calls drop at the same time. I programmed the N* to show release reasons. Calls say normal clearing. Until now, I had only seen this happen on analog lines that are coming thru an "adtran/IPG56" provided by the CO to provide analog lines that they don't have enough copper for.The T1 is coming thru one of these adtran units at the site that we are having the problems with and I am suspecting that this is the problem. Have had this happen at several locations with these units and it was the programming in the adtran. Unfortunately the Alarm log does not report anything wrong with the T1 as it appears rock solid. It is very difficult to convince to CO that it is there problem as there is no indication on the T span. Unless they are looking at the adtran unit and see the channels go out and come back in. I would ask your provider how the circuit is brougt in and if it goes thru one of these units, have them check it.

Found the problem today, one of my guys went out there today, under dialing plan, he changed an option from 4 seconds to 10 seconds. Seemed to work so far. Not sure of what exactly what was changed.

The 4 seconds was the dialing timeout. When a call is made on a PRI, there may be times when it is looking for X amount of digits before it sets up the call on the D channel. Once the user stops dialing and it doesn't match the required digits it will wait 4 seconds (default) then setup the call. Sometimes the caller waits too long (looking for the number on their cluttered desk, etc) and it will start dialing. If the LEC doesn't understand the digits it will reject the call...
