Never installed one of these before. Does anyone know whats required to utilize this piese of equipment on a MICS 6.1? Do I need an i-series phone to use it, or can I just integrate it via LS/DS trunk ports? Any info greatly appreciated.

Talk about having a "Bad Day"

I recently helped a customer of mine to connect a VOIP multitech device which I have been told is the same as the Nortel dece that you are working with. It integrates with your LS/DS trunk card and required no other devices. I used L-031 on the customer's system at both offices and it works like a charm. Need further details or is that enough to get you started?

What release of software were you using for that customer? This will be a 6.1 that I'm installing.

Thanks, clwfoneman

The software release is not important or critical in any way. The gateway will even work with plain old analog sets.

It doesn't matter what software level you use as the Nortel VoIP device will work on all levels of MICS/CICS/6x16/3x8 systems. The software/system level will only determine what trunk (line) number you will use to access the VoIP trunks...

OTM Call Tracking

Guys, thanks for the response... I had assumed that the VoIP unit would function with any release and or cabinet. My question was based on the fact that phonegurl said she used line number 031 to bring her trunk in on. In my experience Line 031 doesn't exist unless your are provisioned for T1 or PRI on the MICS, and it does not at all exist on a CICS. Am I missing something?

Lines are used based upon software level. With the release of new software comes new abilities within the KSU.

Lines Used (assuming LS/DS being used):
3x8 (All software): Lines used are Line001~Line003
8x24 (All software): Lines 001~Lines008 (on KSU), Line009~Line080 (on trunk modules)
0x32 (MICS T1 Rls 1~MICS XC 5.0) Line001~004 (KSU Slot 4), Line025~028 (KSU Slot 3)
0x32 (MISC DR 6.0~MICS XC 6.1) Line001~004 (KSU Slot 4), Line031~Line034.

The latter 0x32 uses different lines because with release 6.0 came Global Software and Cartridges and thus must take into account E1 (European T1 which has the capabilities of 30 trunks, hence slot 3 starts at Line031). 0x32 Trunk modules are too vast to be listed here.

If you refer to the installation manual, you will see what lines you can use based upon the population of cards within your system.

Hope this helps....
