I'm not quite done researching yet, but my customer has an MICS 5.0 and NVM 4.0.04C. They want to enable mailboxes for pager Remote Notification, and I was trying to set that up for them. I know there is a bug with MICS 6.0 and NVM 4.0 in regards to Remote Notification, and having to upgrade the NVM to 4.1....is this also an issue with the 5.0/4.0.04C comination?

I'm able to setup the mailbox to Remote Notify to a Phone, using all the same restrictions, Line Pool access, etc. but even so, it only seems to notify to the phone grudgingly...not immediate success. The same mailbox will do Outbound Transfer wonderfully, so there's no restriction problem per se...but when set up to page a pager for RN, it simply will not get a line (I've monitored the channels under F915, and under pager RN does not grab a channel, as it does for Outbound Transfer)

So what gives? I thought I checked everything, and since it does Outbound Transfer, I can't see why it won't do pager RN...any ideas?

NAM access

Did you make sure that all individual mailboxes have access to the outbound pool, which would be "1" for pool A. 2 for pool B, etc.

Yes, insofaras they have PRI, so I've given the mailbox access to 'Pool 1' (which doesn't exist actually), but had the user include the '9' in the pager dial string, to grab a PRI channel.

I know in the past, there were a lot of timing issues involved with activating pagers when initiated from remote notification out of the voice mail system.
The issue was all in the timing of how long it took the pager company to answer the call and when remote notification dialed the digits required to be seen on the display of the peger. Are you sure that this is not what you are comming into? If it is, then you will need to adjust the amount of pauses in the dialing string to accomidate the pager.

Thanks for the reply...I know in the past we had to do alot of experimenting with the timed pauses, etc. They made a big improvement, though, with 4.0. Usually right out of the box, you can just put in your pager number, and no pauses or anything; and the RN is already set to input the DN of voicemail as the callback number, so most times we can just setup a pager very easily.
I have been trying this one, however, with many variations of timed pauses, etc; so far, none has worked. And when I log in to the ACCESS Server and do a Channel Status, I don't see the system even activating a channle to DO the dial-out for RN, so that's what's got me so concerned...When RN is set to a cell phone, you see the channel activate and the cell phone rings...just not the pager!

Problem solved...I modified the Outdial field of the mailbox to be Line instead of Pool, then specified a line in the middle of the PRI (they are a fractional, 13 channels, so I picked Line 00. Had the mailbox user then setup RN to Pager with no '9' destination code ahead of the pager number (since it's directly on Line 00 and it worked fine!

So there is a glitch with RN on a MICS 5.0/NVM 4.0, but it CAN be overcome!
