Rep Power: 0 ![]() | i have this cust that has a CICS 4.1.1. he currently has 4 phones already setup to where all he has to do is dial f4 and enter a 3 digit number (511, 522, 533, or 544) and those are working fine. well, he added 3 more phones and wants to add 3 more routes, like 555, 566, & 577. i'm not sure how to add those 3 new routes, i checked the existing numbers that were working under ROUTING SERVICE, and then ROUTES. this is what i found out: 511-uses rte 001 522-uses rte 002 533-uses rte 003 544-uses rte 004 sounds easy enough to just add 3 more: 555-use rte 005 566-use rte 006 577-use rte 007 but, when i enter 005 and press SHOW it says DIALOUT:Nonumber. it will not let me add a new one or change it, there is no opts on the second line to do anything. so that tells me that the route needs to be defined first, but i don't know where to define it so that it will use the dial out number that i want to enter. i checked the existing rtes and when i get to that same area, it shows DIALOUT:XXX-XXX-XXXX. how can i add a new rte and dial out number? p.s. i have already set ALLOW REDIRECT:Y on all 3 sets. i know i am warm but just can't find how to define the rte. any ideas? thanks, tim

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | You are right on target. Nothing says you need to use route 005 (except I applaud your sense of keeping things in line with everything else). Just use a different route. There are many to choose from. Since you can't change the DIALOUT digits on route 005, try rebooting the system (I know it seems the answer for everything), sometimes the switch hangs a bit and needs a little attitude adjustment, or as I call it "A kick in the ass". If that doesn't work and you still can't change the DIALOUT digits, just use a different route. I have seen programmers use DEST CODES for speed dial, and the route they use matches the DEST CODES they programmed (ie: Dest Code: 500, use Route 500). There are 1000 routes that can be used (000~999). Let us know what you find... Brewsky

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | RE: Was going to reply, but Brewsky stole my thunder. I have used dest codes just as he says, for speed dial, and it works fine. I take it you have already inst dest codes of 555, 566, and 577? Have never had one not let me enter a dial out for a route. Am leaning very heavy to what Brewsky said. GIVE IT A KICK IN THE ASS!!! Sometimes you just have to let it know who is the boss. Post back afterward and let us know what happened.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | thanks for the feedback Brewsky. i think i just figured it out. i was on the right track but i made 1 small error. first off i was helping my cust via the phone so i was flying blind. but i do have a phone system where i am at to play with. anyway, the reason i wasn't given any option to change the DIALOUT number was because i had entered rte 000 first, and i guess that rte cannot be changed. after your response i decided to try a different rte number per your suggestion, so i tried 005 and this time it did give me an option to CHANGE the dialout number. now i know what to do, i will enter the number i want it to dial and then add that rte number to the dest code of 555. i believe it should work now. my cust will call me later today and i will see if it all comes together. i knew i was on the right track but i guess i made 1 little mistake. thanks again, tim

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | 3 Nitwits i just w/w my cust. as it turned out, he really didn't want to add 3 new dest codes, all he wanted was for his existing dest codes to be able to be used on the 3 new phones he purchased. so i had to give the phones each access to line pool A along w/allow redirect which i had already set, then it worked fine. well, i didn't need to add the new dest codes but now i know how to do it when i need to add them. tim
