How do you set the time of day in a Nortel Norstar System? After entering **8463, the screen shows a place to enter a password, however, the machine will not allow it to be entered. While I am entering the password, the screen remains blank (to the right of Password and there is a RETRY located on the lower right corner of the screen. No buttons seem to work at this time...

Thanks

That is normal. The digits that you press will not display, just in case someone is looking over your sholder. If you put the right password in, the set time menu wil appear.

Typical Canadian Boy

System will not accept code. Acts as if it is locked up. No XXXs or anything.

Unsure of level. This company purchased this system about 1 1/2 years ago...

If the NVRAM cartridge has a PCMCIA card plugged into it, you can use the F**TIME method for setting time and date, if not, you will have to enter programming to set it. Software rel up to 4.0 just had the NVRAM and no PCM card. Rel 4 and above use the PCM card for software delivery. This is also where programming changes from seeing config, and general admin to terminal & sets etc.

Since you are getting a password prompt when entering the command for time, you have the newer type of programming. I still feel the only problem is a bad password.
We do not post passwords on this forum, so post a private message back to one of us and we can try to help.
When a system is working properly, it appears just as you stated. Nothing appears on the screen to the right of Password except for RETRY.

I'll get with the owner of our company and try to get a correct password since all indications are pointing toward this being the problem. It may take a couple of days...

You should have received a manual or CD with your system. Within that documentation/CD you will see how to change the time on your system.
