Rep Power: 0 ![]() | How to get rid of Dialing 9 out Hello, I have a Nortel BCM 50 with Business Element Manager to configure the unit. Our phones are Nortel T7316E and I notice that some phones needs to dial 9 out while others don't. I don't want our phones to dial 9 out, could someone help me and let me know how or where I can configure this? I looked through the documentation and searched online but could not find an answer as to how to do this. Do I do it on the phone system or the BCM unit or both? Thanks, Peter

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi Peter, im not 100% on this, so if someone could back me up. If you have element manager, login. Once in under the configuration tab goto Telephony, then Dialing Plan, then routing. Under the destination codes tab, you should see a line with 9 as the destination code. Deleting this should open it up. This will obviously make ALL phones not require 9 to dial out. As mentioned at top, im not 100% sure on this.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi Peter, Let us know what is the trunk type you are using?. Are you using 9 to dial out to public numbers?. How many trunk line you are using?. Basically the destination code will be configured to get the route selected by dialing a digit. And if we remove the digit 9 then dial the external number, system will not know that the dialed number is a internal or external number. So we are using this destination codes for the system to route the calls. Also we can delete the destination code and route the calls as blitzsport said. I would suggest you to go through the Nortel NTP NN40170-502_01.03_telephony under dialing plan section. Also in BCM Task Based guide in the telephony service document the call routing are explained..

This is under Line Access/Prime line Change it to Pool (or other) Those who dial 9 have their set Prime Line set to Intercom. Most business's will prime to Intercom if they do a lot of internal calling, paging etc. So they wont grab a line evertime the just want to call somebody internal. There is also Hotline in Capabilities Set to External will do this also....mostly used when the carrier made you dial a 9 also.
