How to Stop Key System Hackers Making LD Calls

I work in an ATAC Support Center and we get several calls a week from Key System owners who have unauthorized international calls made thru their systems by Hackers getting in to their Norstar Key System via Remote Access to their Norstar Voicemail systems. No one wants to cut off remote access so we recommend they pay closer attention to their security features and change passwords often.

Are there other features, perhaps not intended for security, that can be used to make it more difficult for hackers to make long distance calls? I was thinking of using the calling card to require external callers to enter more information and discouraging hackers from attempting to access the system and going elsewhere.

Anyone had any success with discouraging hackers and international callers? Ideas?

For systems with DISA, you can set the remote access line settings to use a certain filter and block anything you don't want to go out. For VM restrict the ports attached to the vm. Best shot is to change pwds often.
