"Hunt Group" not showing in "system prgrming" menu

Hello everyone.

I just started working for this business, and they have a Nortel/Meridian PBX. I have previous experience programming Nortel/Norstar but it's limited. Here's the issue I'm having:

The company currently has all the different groups setup through Answer DN. The issue with this is that even with internal calls through the IC, all the phones that are setup for Answer DN on that extension ring too. I advised them that we should set it up through Hunt Groups, as this would be more productive and not cause the aforementioned issue. They agreed.

I logged into the config menu, and went to system prgrming, and lo and behold the "hunt group" option wasn't there. I thought "no big deal, i've dealt with this before, let me go change the DN length to 3 or more".

I went to the DN length option, and to my suprise, it's set to 3 already.

If the DN length is already set to 3 or above, why isn't the hunt group option showing? I've looked everywhere thinking it might be in another place, and I can't find it at all.

just to clear any questions that might arrise:

I logged in as an installer.
I scrolled to system prgrming
i pressed show
the first thing that shows is DN Change

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The DN length is the first place I would have gone also. At this point I am lost also.

someone on another forum stated that the software might be 1.0, and that i should upgrade to 4.0+ to have hunt groups. he didn't say how to do this though. how would I upgrade the software for the PBX? i have no clue.

whoa, I didn't tripple post, lol. must be a forum issue. oh well, deleted extra posts.

anyone else wanna take a stab at this?

I also got some other info about the PBX I have. system info:

well in order to upgrade to version 4, you will need to get your hand on the update patches....that said upgrading to 3.7 should be sufficient to get the hunt groups.

can you confirm that the system is a v1.0? should be under identification in the system menu, you can also check what patches have been applied.

now every version up until 4.0 run on windows NT and is programmed through a web browser, and version 4.0 infact runs on linux, and is programmed through element manager, so updating to v4.0 may infact (and im pretty sure it will) wipe all customer data, so I would recommend only updating to v3.7 (the latest version before 4.0)

as far as getting the patches goes thats another issue, but i guess you could try the nortel website, I dont beleive I have the required patches to update to 3.7 but may be able to get a hold of them

aldmo87: He is talking about a MICS instead of a BCM.

PCTechNerd: You could try to find older software online at some unnameable auction site and take your chances, or at a verifiable Techno site. I would look for say, MICS 6.0 (which is a good stable recent older release) with the NVRAM cartridge and be ready to exercise you fingers to reprogram the system.

Random thoughts, I agree the original issue is that you have a pre hunt group software revision. Upgrading requires an upgrade kit from Nortel and can be pricey and a rather big deal. Crowtalks suggestion of looking for a newer release is good. Assuming you have 1.0 software (R1T1 I think it was called), if you need hunt groups best to move on with your life.
