It will depend on the version of the BCM you have. If you are using BCM 3.x or earlier you will need to connect to the BCM via your browser and log into the configuration tool. If you are using BCM 4.x, or BCM50 or BCM 450 then you will need to download and install Element Manager from the BCM. Once element manager is installed you can change the CDR settings. Utilizing call accounting software from companies such as Resource Software International can simplify this.

I don't believe there is a serial output on BCM (any version). The earlier versions had something called DCOM. Later versions added CDR Pull/Push and live socket streams. All these iterations had sample Nortel utilities that were made available to their Developer Partners. There is no serial output on BCM (only on SMDR boxes for Norstar).

Question BCM50 PbX calls log

I have a BCM50 PbX and I simply need to extract calls log into any file format (text is also fine). I have installed Element Manager But I do not know how to configure it assuming it is the right tool for this purpose.

The BCM does cannot deliver CDR via a serial port. If you require real-time CDR you will need to utlize the BCM Live Client. Nortel provides a basic CDR Live client solution on the box. Connect to the BCM via your web browser and download the CDR Clients from the Administrator Applications section. This tool is very basic. I suspect you may need to look at a third party call accounting solution such as Resource Software International's (RSI) Shadow CMS or Revolution Web products (see www.telecost.com). Please note both these solutions have been lab tested by Nortel/Avaya and are certified as compatible with the BCM.

Please note RSI also offers an application that will capture the CDR and retransmit it via a serial port.
