Rep Power: 7 ![]() | ITG Trunk install issues. I need help? My laptop is running windows xp pro and I need to connect to a fiber NAM through the serial port. I downloaded the nvm2ppp.exe from nortel but I cannot get it to see my com port on windows xp. Anyone please help greatly appreciate it. Also I tried to set up a ppp dialer connection to the NAM but got the message NVM manager not installed on NAM. I need to get into the NAM to edit some classes of service.

Location: Canada! Rep Power: 8 ![]() | BUG5416 does the nam you are trying to connect to have a nic card?? If it does make a cross over cable (patch cord into nam->cat5 jack as type A -> short length cat5 cable -> cat5 jack as type B -> patch cord into laptop) set the ip address on the laptop to 192.168.110.15 and (now things are getting fuzzy) open voicemail manager and connect to 192.168.110.10 (default ip for the nam)

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | NAM voicemail No the NAM does not have a NIC card and I was told by Nortel that I cannot connect to the nam with win xp pro unless I set a ppp dialer connection, provided the NAM has NVM manager installed on it. Feature 983... password then 44 and the NVM manager option is not installed. I need to find a laptop running win 98 and they said I can get in.

Location: Canada! Rep Power: 8 ![]() | NAM voicemail what software version on the nam?? If NVM manager is not installed, you are SOL for using dial up networking. Try connecting using a regular hyperterminal connection and a serial cable. I "THINK" 9600, 8, N, 1, Xon Xoff. If it dosn't work in the first 9 pin try the second.

Location: Canada! Rep Power: 8 ![]() | SECCS Installation Problem - Please Help There is not much in connecting to a nam using a terminal emulation program. (hyper terminal, procomm plus) Hyper terminal usually comes free with windows. Procomm is a program you need to purchase. Equipment required: laptop or pc with 9 pin serial connection (usually com 1), terminal emulation program (Hyper terminal), and a 9 pin male to 9 pin female standard serial cable. There are two 9 pin female connectors on the bottom of the nam. I think the back is the one you want to use (if one doesn't work try the other) Your hyper terminal settings are 9600, 8, n, 1, Xon Xoff. plug everything together and hit the enter key you should get a response. now things are really getting fuzzy as I am going from memory and it has been a while... the first password is admin say yes to detailed mode... DO NOT select access server admin (I cant think what the other is called) second password is SYSMGR ( all caps) Knowing this sites policy on passwords I don't think there is a problem with posting these here. If there is please edit... I will also send this as a PM. If anyone else sees any errors in my directions, jump in...
