External access to Voicemail - BCM400 3.7 w/ CallPilot 150

First, some background on my configuration.

I'm running a BCM400 3.7 with CallPilot 150 for voicemail. I have a block of 100 DIDs (8500-8599) from my Telco. My voicemail has a system-assigned DN of 2439 (which is obviously not in my DID range). The BCM is not networked to any other PBX via tie lines or anything (don't ask).

I'm trying to provide access to voicemail for when users are not at the office where the BCM is located. Specifically, I'd like to be able to access the system admin. mailbox (1002, which is, again, not in my DID range) from a separate office to send broadcast messages. Basically, I'm trying to provide the equivalent (or as close as I can get to it) of F981 from outside the office.

I've tried all kinds of things like assigning a target line set to answer incoming calls from the public network for 8599 (so when the PBX receives 8599 over the PRI, it should redirect it to 2439 via the target line) to DN 2439. I've also tried routing things through automated attendant.

I'm aware of dialing an extension, getting a voicemail greeting, hitting ##, etc., but that's a less-than-elegant way to do things.

Anybody have any ideas?

DNs and DIDs have nothing to do with each other.

You should be able to assign one of the target lines to the VM DN without using redirect. Make sure AA is set to answer the target line.

Make sure you have External Initialization alloowed in the CP.

As soon as the CP answers, press ** and it will prompt you to enter the mailbox and password of that mailbox. If you are wanting to manage the CP externally, enter the System Admin mailbox and password and follow the prompts.

Remember the this allows anyone potential access to the CP, so I would change the password from the standard 4 digit password.
