Rep Power: 0 ![]() | How to "enable external initilization" on Call Pilot 100 Referring to my previous post: I asked how to change AA greetings remotely and I determined that the "enable external initilization" is not turned on what are the steps to turn this on? F983, login to system administrator and then a secret menu? unfortunately I do not have the system admin guide for call pilot. I have star talk flash and Nam books, but I am pretty sure that they are different in some ways than call pilot. please advise

F981 press the other button and enter 102XXXX (xxxx is the current password for the sm mailbox) and set up the mail box. Once it is setup you can call into the mailbox.

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | The correct procedure to do this is from a 2 line display set enter F981 then press the other button. Enter the mailbox number you want to initialize and the password. As in for mailbox 230 you would enter F981, press other, then enter 2300000 and press the pound sign or ok on the buttons under the display. You can turn on remote ini from the web interface to the Call Pilot, but it is not recommmended. If you do this from a phone that does not have a mailbox you will get a "log" prompt. At that point you would enter 2300000 and press # or OK. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me! I can not be 100% sure as I have not done a CP100, NAM or Flash in a long time. I mostly use BCM now and the customers use the web interface to make changes even on remote systems. once again Sorry if I was incorect with the 981 thing.

I think her question is referring to changing the AA greeting from outside the system and I don't believe you can achieve this unless allow External Initilization is enabled. You know, I'm like a trained monkey sometimes. I have never even entertained the thought that you could access the Admin mailbox using F981 and Other. I've always used F983. I was able to get to the Admin box using F981, but it wouldn't give me the softkey prompts for system management, MBOX, AA, OTHER and I couldn't use the prompt keys, example, pressing 77 opens the menu to change External Initilization in the Call Pilot.

Location: Tennessee Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Jamiewazi: As Ramjet alluded to, turning on External Initialization opens the Call Pilot system to everyone who might try to hack your VM system. You might want to change the admin box password to a 5 or 6 digit string to make it a little more difficult

When you call in remotely and the AA answers, press ** and enter the ADMIN login and password. When the system asks you for the mailbox and password, you enter the system admin mailbox/password combo. At this point the system girl will walk you through the prompts, which includes aa GEETINGS.
