Hello

We have a PBX phone network at our company. Out of hours we would like an answer phone service. What (cheap) options are available to us?
We have Norstar phones.

We would also like to have music playing while people are put on hold. Apparetnly we can plug an MP3 player via a jack lead into the pbx box.

Can you provide any advice? The contractor we use is quoting about GBP1000 for a 4 port answering thing. surely there must be a cheaper way.

sorry can't be more specific, i'm not well clued up about phone systems/

hi neil, what's pbx Norstar do you have?
if you have a CICS pbx you can activate auto attendant and record greeting within it, then you can activate CCR tree to give to the callers much options are available to use,
but if you have other pbxs norstar such as MICS, 3/8, 6/16, 8/24 you will need to purchase a callpilot that have this option,
for music on hold it can work with any pbxs norstar, you just give us what pbx norstar do you have.
