Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Good day All! I have a customer that has two seperate buildings that currently run two different operations. Currently they both operate with their own attendant position, incomming CO lines, etc. They would like to combine the two systems so that there will only be one attendant positon for both buildings. The current hardware is MICS systems running 7.0 and each has numerous 0x16 expansion units. The customer is looking to install fibre optics between buildings for the computer systems and phone system. I am looking for ways to meld the 2 systems into one without having to change all the equipment. The one way I was going to do it was remove the MICS in one building, install a few more 0x16 expanders and link it to the other build MICS with MCK extenders. Any other comments or suggestions? Thanks.

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | You could also link the 2 sites together via multi tech VOIP units and E&M cards. That would allow you to program the attendant to 1 switch and give you transparent dialing between sites. You would have to change station numbers at one of the sites though. As in site 1 221-thru, and site 2 331-thru. You would then set up a destination code to use the E&M trunks such as site 1=dest code of 3, to route to the other end of the trunks. I have a couple of sites with this setup and it works fine. On such site has 3 systems on it with a numbering plan of site 1=starting dn of 2221, site 2=3221, and site 3=4221. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Go to www.mutitech.com and look at the MultiVOIP voice gateways. They come in 1 port up to I think 8 port. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Thanks Ramjet. The customer likes this solution. If I go with an 8 port gateway(customer requested) do I need 4 E&M cards. I am not that familiar with using E&M signalling. Also is it possible from one system to another too access paging, voicemail, etc/ any Feature code functions?

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Each card has 2 E&M ports and 2 DTMF receivers, so for an 8 port setup you will need 4 cards on each end. Feature code functions are not available with this setup that I know of. If paging is on a trunk port, then it will be accessable via the access code for that line pool. Voice Mail is accessable via the Dn of the voice mail, but not via F981. You could also link the 2 with a PRI set up and MCDN key code. But I'm not sure what equipment you would need between the 2 if you don't go thru a CO with the PRI. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | i'm not sure of the cost for what Ramjet recommended, but I've just ordered a Dedicated Private Line (DPL) to be installed between my current MICS and a new one that will be installed real soon. btw - ramjet is very knowledgeable and has successfully helped me on several occasions.
