Ring Group DN ?

We have a BCM200 and are using the Call Pilot to answer calls, give the company greeting and accept the extension # or 0 of the operator. We originally had the system installed ringing a couple of lines. Later we tried using a hunt group to ring 3 DN's and if none of them answered switch to 3 other DN's. It wasn't working too well for us and the Hunt Groups messed up our programmed buttons by auto-assigning the hunt group buttons.

Now we have deleted the hunt groups, re-assigned all the buttons, and are trying to get the ring groups to just ring all the sets we want. I have ring group 1 sets all assigned, but it's not working. In the call pilot greeting table 1 the attendant DN was set to 625, the first hunt group, and initially we were getting 'operator not available' until I changed it to 221, the control set at the reception desk. I remember that was something like 425 before and I'm guessing that Ring Group 1 has it's own DN but can't find it anywhere in the system docs.

Anyone who could shed some light on this??

Taking a stab at this; I dont think there is a specific DN to ring a ring group, it is the lines that ring the group when they are assigned. I have never tried running a ring group from an auto attendant. The hunt group sonds like your best bet. Once the hunt groups are defined and added to the sets you can move the hunt group buttons to where the user wants them to appear on thier set using the Feature *81 command.

That's the conclusion I was coming to. I would have sworn the original tech had that extension set to something different but there doesn't appear to be any way to use the call pilot to hit the ring groups. I didn't know about the *81 feature and I'm using the BCM Unified Manager to do everything and on that I haven't found a way to move HG01 from button #9 where it auto-assigns it. I've got a little leeway on the buttons anyway so I'll put the hunt group back in and then try to move the button back toward the intercoms.

Thanks much. If anyone has other info on this please let me know.

The best way to do this is with the use of Hunt Groups. Now here is the trick. When you assign the hunt group to a phone you have the option of Appear Only, Appear and Ring (default) or Ring Only. If you set the HG to ring only then it does not creat pesky buttons on your phone. (and I don't think you can move Hunt Group apperances with *81). Any way when you are assinging the phones for the group just set them as Ring Only and then set the Q timeout to the length of time you would like to wait befor it hunts to the next group of 3 (15 sec shoud be good) and set the overflow to the next hunt group.

An other trick. On the nam and the Flash when we used a Hunt group to ring several phone and then goto voicemail we had to overflow to someones phone and wait more rings to goto voicemail. With the Call Pilot you can avoid all of that. Set the overflow to goto the Voicemail DN and then in the destination mailbox set the aternate extension to the Hunt group DN. This should work great.

Have fun and happy programming

Just a note - hunt groups will not work if the system lines are assigned to the same phones you wish to ring in the hunt group - the line appearance and ringing takes precedence over the Hunt group.

The hunt group is working fine and the *81 will allow you to move it. Neat tip about ring only.
