Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Norstar ICS - PRI All: I've been given full responsibility for a Norstar ICS phone switch and I'm familiar with most of the basic programming. I've worked a lot with the meridians in the past, but this is my first time taking ownership of a Norstar. My question is this: What is the best way to map out how the Norstar is setup? For instance - I have a PRI but I don't know how the lines are laid out. It appears as though the DID's are all pointed to our operator... how do I confirm? Calling a vendor is not an option on this island... the one we use it not always available.. Thanks

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | If the DID's are all ringing to the opr, then most likely the target lines are not programmed to sets. If the target lines are programmed with the rec'd digits and the opr set is the prime, then they will ring to that set. What Island, how much will you pay me to come fix it! Oh, and what software level are you at? __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Norstar ICS - PRI Ramjet, I live on Kauai, but can't afford to send you over... too expensive... All of my DID's are pointed to the main phone number OR are all pointed to our receptionist. Whenever I call them (the dids) she answers the phone. is the carrier pointing them to one number? Thanks

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | I've figured out that all lines are point to our receptionist extension. i don't see target lines anywhere, so I'm assuming thats my problem. if i wanted to do a test and point a DID to a target line and then to an extension, where would I start? thanks

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Ok, first we need to know the software level of your switch. The target lines start at different line numbers for different software levels, and the number of target lines depends of if the switch is an XC or DR. Basically, if your DID numbers range is 3400-3499 you will program the first target line rec'd digits as 3400 if the CO is sending you 4 digits, or 400 if they are sending you 3. The next target line would be 3401 and so on. Now, you can either program the target line to a set to app & ring just as any other line, or ring only. You can also have multiple app's of a target line on a phone. Sooo, if the main number for the business is xxx-3400, and I give the receptionist 5 app's of the target line for 3400, then she has 5 lines for that number. An incoming call will only get a busy if all 5 of the app's are busy. Does this help? Do you have any documentation for the system? __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Ramjet, First, thanks a million for even responding; I really do appreciate your support. When I do a system version it reads: SP: 30BeE02 NAT The DID's are not contiguous. I have 39xx -3xx and then a few other numbers. The switch is a Norstar MICS and I believe the release # is 7? Make sense... I know where the comands are, I know how to do all the internal stuff, but this DID thing is killing me... I just want to test one and then I can go from there... I know what lines are being used, I know the extensions - I just need to know how to tie the DID-target line - ext. As for documentation, I have none and the little I do have is from the internet which is NO help. Again, thanks so much for all your help...

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | If I am reading your post right, your SP number points to it being a 6.0. Also, is the CO sending 3 digits? Goto lines, line number 157, show the line, and enter the following. rec'd digits =39xx if rec'd digits are 4 or 3xx if rec'd digits are 3. Change the prime set to none. Next, in terminals and sets, assign line 157 to appear and ring on a set other than the receptionists set and see if this works. Also, in system programming, under dialing plan, you have to tell the system how many digits it to receive. Try this and post back. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Only affect of setting prime set to none is if the target line is not assigned to a set, you will get a busy when dialing the number. Line 157 is where the target lines start. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!
